Another week has passed and there is still no sign of the aged care workforce strategy promised over 12 months ago.
This week saw the Assistant Minister for Social Services, Senator Fifield toot his horn again about the importance of aged care, maintaining that the Government is delivering on its commitment to produce a strategy, but neglecting to provide a release date.
The only thing this Government has actually delivered is a nasty $40 million cut to the Aged Care Workforce Development Fund without strategic backing.
Australia’s aged care sector presents significant challenges and opportunities. The Government has a responsibility to leverage these opportunities in order to meet the needs of older Australians now and into the future.
Over to you Senator Fifield.
