21 October 2008 - Community Cabinet
The Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and his Cabinet are coming to Launceston on November 5th to listen to your concerns. Community Cabinets are a great way for the Government to talk to constituents and hear exactly what problems or suggestions you have. I hope that as many people as possible are able to attend this fantastic initiative.

10 October 2008 - Safe Havens
Senator Polley is currently collecting signatures for a petition calling for the establishment of Baby Safe Havens in Australia. Please find copies of the petitions below. These can be printed out and used to collect signatures.
The petitions can be returned to my office at PO Box 1223, Launceston Tasmania 7250.
Please note that only Tasmanians may sign the petition to the Tasmanian State Parliament.
TO THE HONOURABLE THE SPEAKER AND MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY: The petition of the undersigned Citizens of Tasmania draws to the attention of the House a need for legislation to be enacted to provide legal abandonment of newborn babies. Your Petitioners therefore pray that the House consider enacting legislation so that young women would be discouraged from killing, causing physical harm or abandoning their babies if the State provided “Baby Safe Havens” where the mothers would remain anonymous and immune from prosecution.
