EMMERTON’S SUCCESS MUST BE ASPIRED TO AUSTRALIA WIDE

Tasmanian Labor Senator Helen Polley has today congratulated Smithton’s Emmerton Park for winning the prestigious aged-care organisation of the year award at the 2013 National Aged Care Awards at the weekend.
“I congratulate Emmerton Park on its success at the awards. This is a prestigious honour of the highest regard,” Senator Polley said.
Senator Polley noted that, Emmerton’s director of Care Christine Hyde attributed the facilities success to its community focus.
“This is wonderful news for not just Emmerton residents, staff, volunteers and the greater community. It is great news for Tasmania more generally. Tasmania is clearly setting the standard in aged care facilities which is a huge coup for the state,” Senator Polley said.
Emmerton Park chief executive Rob Barden believed the award was recognition for the commitment and tireless work achieved by the organisation's team and its implementation of programs and initiatives that provide a fun, inclusive and caring environment for residents.
Senator Polley also urged other aged care facilities across the country to continue to strive for excellence and to ensure that residents are provided the best care possible, while also pushing new and exciting initiatives to ensure residents are active and involved within their residents and the community more broadly.
“These awards display the successes of the aged care sector, while also encouraging aged care facilities across the country to continue to aspire to provide the best possible care for residents, which in turn benefits the entire community,” Senator Polley said.
